That’s Not Fair: A Teacher’s Guide to Activism with Young Children

by Ann Pelo and Fran Davidson

We are pleased to include a book by Ann Pelo and Fran Davidson, colleagues of ours in Seattle. Ann is a preschool teacher featured in many of our videos. She combines a practical commitment to anti-bias principles with inspiration from the schools of Reggio Emilia. Fran is a teacher educator working at a local community college and with Pacific Oaks College NW. Her work focuses on bicultural and biracial families, parent cooperatives, culturally-relevant practices, and undoing racism.

That's Not Fair offers a unique combination of anti-bias principles with an emergent curriculum approach. It provides helpful guidelines supported by many stories of conversations with children and in-depth curriculum projects. Included are delightful songs with music and lyrics and an impressive list of resources.
